Hey Moon, Don’t You Go Down || Ches&Woody

Woody nodded at Cheshire. He had completely stopped walking to talk to her. It wasn’t a big deal. It wasn’t like he was in this big rush to go running. Maybe it was better that he wasn’t out running. Going out on the trail around the school only made him think of the one person he really wanted to see. “Oh? That’s unfortunate. Who was your roommate? I’m not assigned one-for now at least. It’s just me, myself, and I in my room. That’s why I try not to spend much time in there. It gets boring.” He noted that she mentioned Wonderland. He had heard Alice talk about Wonderland before. He wasn’t sure it was a really real place, but he had heard several people talk about it.

“Well this is a good place to come after hours. It’s always really nice around here at night. There is a lake a little further down that way,” he said pointing in the direction of the lake. “There were a bunch of parties down there last year…some of them didn’t end very well. But I’m sure you don’t really care to hear about a bunch of extremely drunk teenagers being idiots.” He shrugged when she said she thought it was going to be more interesting. “It’s just a courtyard and a dirt track. Nothing super exciting. It’s just nice to get out of the castle and feel the fresh air.”

When Cheshire asked about the cat, Woody shook his head. “No, that’s not my cat. I don’t think it’s anyone’s cat. We’re not supposed to have pets here, really. Of course, there are a few exceptions, but cats are not one of them. Dogs either because people are allergic to them. I was just petting the little stray. I’m actually lucky it didn’t bite or scratch me, actually. Sorry it ran away.”

She said that she was hanging around over there, but he didn’t see her. Wow, I must be a lot less observant than I think I am. Sad…

“I did live with Belle O’Hara. We only talked a few times in the library. I never spent much time in my room to get to know her, really.” Cheshire’s grin faded as she mumbled back the response to him. “No matter, I’m used to being on my own for the most part. I spent most of my life in Wonderland alone, but it is nice to be around people sometimes.”

She missed Wonderland dreadfully right now, what with the singing flowers and the tea parties and the Mome Raths, but she would make the most out of her time here. There was no use giving up while she was already here.

The lake. Yes, she was familiar with the lake. “I went down there the other day and ran into Locksley shortly after getting tangled in a thornbush. That’s how I got these beauties…” Cheshire pulled up her capri pajama bottoms to show him three nasty looking cuts on her calf. “I’ve never drank, you know. The most I’ve done was smoke hookah with the Caterpillar back home and that was an adventure in itself.” She shrugged. They just didn’t have anything like that in Wonderland to her knowledge.

“Cats are pretty good judges of character, you know,” she suddenly said as-a-matter-of-factly. “I’m sure she liked you if she didn’t book it right away or hurt you!” She smiled to herself, running her fingers through her short, black, pixie cut. Maybe she’d grow her hair out again - but not as long as she used to have it… It affected her feline fur and that was just too much to deal with.
